Golden Circle understands the investment and time that goes into the care of a home or place of business. So we know how devastating something like termite damage can be. Termite infestations and termite damage are often not immediately visible to the untrained eye. If you notice any of the below symptoms, be sure to give us a call and ask about our Termite Control solutions.
5 Signs of Termite Infestation
Termites prefer dark, humid environments. That means termites don’t typically feed on the surface of wood, instead termites start on the inside and work their way out. The wood’s surface may even appear smooth, despite termites eating it on the inside. If wood sounds hollow when tapped, it may be because of termites.
Groups of winged insects or discarded wings:
Reproductive termites called “swarmers” take flight to create new colonies. If there are visible swarms of insects or groups of discarded wings, call us and we’ll send up a state-certified technician to assess the problem and recommend a Termite Control solution.
Cracked or distorted paint on wood surfaces:
Swarming drywood termites can enter through openings smaller than the edge of a dime. Termites often enter through cracks in the home’s foundation and near roof siding, vents, and windows.
Mud tubes on exterior walls:
Subterranean termites construct mud tubes on surfaces, such as foundations, posts, and walls, to provide moisture while they are searching for food.
Drywood termites produce wood-colored droppings called “frass” as they eat their way through wood. If you spot these small droppings it’s a sign that termites have been feeding.
